Staysail
Also called: Trinquette, tourmentin, storm jib
A small headsail set on an inner forestay, for strong wind.
The staysail is set between the mast and the jib, on a forestay further aft. Sturdy and easy to handle, it is the heavy-weather sail; the storm jib, even smaller, is for storms. Safety rules require a heavy-weather sail on board.
