True wind
Also called: Vent réel, TWS, TWA, true wind speed, true wind angle, vent vrai
The wind as it blows, measured against the sea, regardless of the boat.
True wind is the wind of the forecasts. It is described by its speed (TWS) and its angle to the boat's course (TWA). It is derived from the apparent wind measured at the masthead, corrected for the boat's speed.
