Monin
French family-owned maker of syrups, liqueurs and fruit purees, based in Bourges.
History
Monin was founded in 1912 by Georges Monin, then 18, as a wine and spirits trading business. The first syrups, which made the brand famous, were produced around the 1920s.
After the founder died in 1944, his son Paul took over, dropped wine to focus on syrups and built a dealer network across France. His son Olivier Monin has led the company since 1992.
The company expanded abroad: a production unit opened in Florida in 1996, followed by one in China in 2018. Its headquarters remain in Bourges, in the Cher department, and about 75% of its business is international.
