What Sillage collects, why, how long we keep it, and how advertising works on the site. Last updated: 4 Oct 2026
Who we are
Sillage is a directory of offshore racing: boats, skippers, shipyards, classes and races. Reading the site does not require an account.
Data we collect
Account: if you sign in, we keep your email address (used to send you a sign-in link) and your role. There is no password.
Contributions: the text, sources and files you send as suggestions, and the date. They are reviewed by moderators; an accepted contribution is published without your email address.
Technical data: like any web server, our host, Vercel Inc., records your IP address and the pages requested, for security and to keep the site running.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not run analytics or tracking tools of our own.
Cookies and local storage
Strictly necessary, set without consent: the sign-in session (only if you sign in), a display hint that remembers you are signed in, your theme choice (light, dark, system) and your language.
Advertising: the ads on Sillage are served by Google AdSense, which uses cookies and similar identifiers (see below). They are only set according to your choice in the consent message.
Advertising
Sillage shows one labelled ad at the end of directory pages. Ads help cover hosting and the cost of keeping the directory up to date; they never change the content of a page.
Google and its partners may use cookies and identifiers to show ads, measure them and prevent fraud. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, personalised ads are only shown if you consent in Google's message; without consent, ads are not personalised (they depend on the page, not on you).
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time (privacy and cookie settings link in the page, when shown, or your browser's cookie settings), manage personalised ads in your Google settings, or opt out of personalised ads from participating companies.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask for access to your data, correction, deletion, a copy, and object to its use. You can also withdraw consent at any time. If you think your rights are not respected, you can complain to your data protection authority (in France, the CNIL, cnil.fr).
How long we keep data
Your account and contributions are kept while your account exists; deleting your account removes your email address, and published content stays without your name. Server logs are kept for a short period for security only.
