About Sillage
Who makes Sillage, how the directory is written and checked, and how to reach us.
The project
Sillage is an independent reference site for offshore racing: IMOCA, Ultim, Ocean Fifty, Class40 and the other ocean classes. It gathers in one place the boats and their successive names, skippers, shipyards, designers, classes, races, results and records.
A boat is followed for its whole life, from the shipyard to its latest race, whatever its name or skipper at the time. The statistics (finishes, podiums, retirements, average speed) are computed from the results, never entered by hand; their definitions are public on the methodology page.
How pages are written
Every piece of information comes with a source: race organisers, classes, teams, press, official databases. Sources are shown on each page.
Readers can suggest a correction with a source. Suggestions are checked before publication, with the help of automated tools whose proposals are reviewed against the sources: nothing is published without a source, and nobody can edit a page directly.
Sillage is not affiliated with any class, race organiser or team. Advertising never changes the content of a page.
