Hull length
Also called: Longueur de coque, LH, longueur, length of hull
Length of the hull alone, without the bowsprit or protruding appendages.
Hull length (LH) is the reference measurement of racing classes: the IMOCA is a “60-footer”, the Class40 a “40-footer”. It excludes the bowsprit, the rudders and the pulpit.
Length overall measures everything that sticks out, and waterline length what touches the water.
