Wing mast
Also called: Mât-aile, mât aile, aile rigide, wingsail
A mast shaped like a wing, which works as part of the sail plan.
A wing mast is a very deep rotating mast: its section, long from front to back, forms a real wing. It provides some of the drive as well as holding the mainsail. Not to be confused with the rigid wing that replaces the mainsail entirely, seen on some inshore racing catamarans.
