Biography
Born in Villeneuve-d'Ascq, Benjamin Dutreux grew up on the Île d'Yeu and discovered sport catamarans at the Fromentine sailing club. He won the SL 16 world title in 2008 with Élodie Wilmart.
After materials studies and three years at Sirena Voile, he joined Team Vendée formation in 2014, then the Figaro circuit, finishing 5th in the 2018 Solitaire du Figaro.
In 2019 his structure Éole Performance bought a 2007 IMOCA, renamed Water Family. He placed 19th in the 2019 Transat Jacques-Vabre, then 9th in the 2020-2021 Vendée Globe after 81 days.
In 2021 he was navigator on Offshore Team Germany (IMOCA winner of The Ocean Race Europe) then raced with Damien Seguin on Groupe Apicil. He then sailed the former 11th Hour Racing boat (8th in the 2022 Route du Rhum) and finished 10th in the 2024-2025 Vendée Globe after 77 days.
