Draft
Also called: Tirant d'eau, draught, TE
How deep the boat sits: from the waterline to the lowest point of the keel.
Draft is the minimum depth of water the boat needs to stay off the bottom. On a racing monohull it is large (several metres): a deep keel carries its ballast lower, where it works best.
On a multihull or a lifting-keel boat, draft changes with the position of the appendages: the page then gives the maximum.
