Gate
Also called: Porte, porte des glaces, ice gate, waypoint gate
A virtual line between two points that boats must cross.
A gate forces competitors through a given segment without imposing a precise point. Round-the-world races long used them to keep fleets away from ice, before switching to a continuous exclusion zone.
