Transatlantic race
Also called: Transat, transat, transatlantique, course transatlantique
A race across the Atlantic Ocean, most often from Europe to the Caribbean or South America.
The transatlantic race is the most common format of French offshore racing: start in Brittany or Normandy, finish in the Caribbean, Brazil or the United States. Depending on route and season, it lasts roughly one to three weeks for monohulls, much less for the big multihulls.
