Biography
Born in Lamballe on 6 October 1970 and based in Cancale, Gilles Lamiré spent around fifteen years sailing cruising yachts, tall ships and catamarans in the Caribbean before returning to Brittany.
He moved into offshore racing with a 60-foot trimaran: 11th in the 2006 Route du Rhum (ORMA), 6th in 2010 aboard Défi Cancale, then 2nd in the 2012 Québec-Saint-Malo. In 2013 he bought the former Prince de Bretagne, renamed Rennes Métropole-Saint-Malo Agglomération, and finished third in the 2013 Transat Jacques-Vabre and the 2014 Route du Rhum in Multi50.
The boat became La French Tech Rennes Saint-Malo: he won The Transat Bakerly in 2016, was third in the 2017 Transat Jacques-Vabre and fourth in the 2018 Route du Rhum.
In 2019 he took the helm of the Multi50 Groupe GCA - Mille et un sourires and won the Transat Jacques-Vabre with Antoine Carpentier. He was sixth in the 2022 Route du Rhum in the Ocean Fifty class.
