Adjusted finish rate
Also called: Taux d'arrivée ajusté, Wilson, borne de Wilson, Wilson score, fiabilité ajustée
The lower bound of the 95 % confidence interval (Wilson) of the finish rate: 1 finish out of 1 start gives 21 %, not 100 %. Greyed out under 5 starts.
The adjusted rate takes the number of races into account: the more starts, the closer it is to the raw rate. It lets a boat that raced three times be compared with one that raced twenty times without favouring the first.
Formula (Wilson, z = 1.96): (p + z²/2n − z·√(p(1−p)/n + z²/4n²)) / (1 + z²/n), where p is the raw rate and n the starts.
