Dynamic Stability System
Also called: DSS, foil DSS
A retractable wing on the leeward side that lifts the hull without making it fly.
The DSS (Dynamic Stability System) is an almost horizontal wing that slides out from one side of the hull. Its lift relieves the boat and reduces heel and pitching. Unlike flying foils, it does not aim to lift the hull out of the water.
The system was conceived by naval architect Hugh Welbourn.
