Fixed keel
Also called: Quille fixe
A keel fixed to the hull, which does not move.
A fixed keel is the simplest, sturdiest and cheapest option. It is fitted to most one-designs (Figaro) and cruising boats. Some classes, such as the Class40, require it to keep costs down, adding water ballast for power.
