One-design
Also called: Monotype, monotypie, one design, série monotype
A class where all boats are identical: only the sailors' skill makes the difference.
In a one-design class, boats come out of the same mould with the same equipment; changes are forbidden or tightly controlled. Controlled costs and readable results: the Figaro is the classic example in offshore racing. Some box-rule classes also impose one-design parts, such as the mast or the keel.
