Stability test
Also called: Test de stabilité, test de retournement, test à 90°, test à 180°, self-righting test, insubmersibilité, unsinkability
A check that the boat rights itself after a capsize and cannot sink.
Offshore monohull classes require tests: the boat, laid over or turned upside down by crane, must come back upright on its own or using its keel and ballast. Hulls are also divided into compartments with buoyancy volumes so they float even when flooded.
