Sealed engine
Also called: Moteur plombé, moteur, plomb, scellé, propulsion, engine seal
In racing, the propeller shaft is sealed: the engine may charge batteries but not drive the boat.
Before the start, officials seal the propeller shaft. The engine can still be used as a generator. Using propulsion is forbidden except in cases set by the notice of race (assisting another boat, avoiding danger); it must then be declared to the jury, which decides whether to penalise.
