Coachroof
Also called: Roof, rouf, casquette, doghouse
A raised part of the deck that shelters the interior and protects the cockpit.
The coachroof is the structure raised above the deck. It gives headroom inside and shelters the companionway. Extended aft, it becomes a doghouse or hood protecting the cockpit from breaking waves.
