Trimaran

A trimaran combines a central hull, which carries the mast, the crew and the main appendages, with two floats joined by crossbeams. Under sail, the boat leans on the leeward float while the other one lifts out of the water.

It is the layout of the largest offshore racing boats, the Ultims and the Ocean Fifties. Fitted with foils, they can fly above the water and hold averages above 30 knots.
