Wave-piercing bow
Also called: Étrave perce-vagues, perce-vague, wave piercer
A fine, sharp bow that cuts through the waves instead of riding over them.
A wave-piercing bow is very fine and carries little volume: instead of lifting the boat on each wave, it goes through it. Pitching (the rocking from bow to stern) is reduced and speed stays more even.
It is mostly found on multihull hulls and floats, which have little weight to carry forward.
