Crossbeam
Also called: Bras de liaison, beam, akas, bras
A beam joining the hulls of a multihull.
Crossbeams carry the huge loads between the hulls of a multihull: the weight of the boat, the lift of the foils, the tension of the rig. They are built in carbon and designed to resist twisting.
Their height above the water also matters: too low, they slam into the waves and slow the boat.
