Corrected time
Also called: Temps compensé, handicap, rating, IRC, temps corrigé, coefficient
Elapsed time adjusted by a handicap rating, to compare different boats.
In handicap races (as under IRC), each boat gets a rating based on its potential; its real time is multiplied by it. A small, slow boat can thus beat a big, fast one. The big offshore class races (IMOCA, Class40…) are sailed in real time, without handicap.
