Distance to finish
Also called: Distance au but, DTF, distance restante, DTG, distance to go
The distance left to the finish, measured along the shortest route that respects the course.
Distance to finish (DTF) is used for provisional rankings. It follows the great circle through the marks and around forbidden zones, ignoring weather: a boat making a detour to find wind may appear to drop back, then return to the lead.
